Hon. John Allen, Ret.
Judge Allen's philosophy during his extensive legal career as both an attorney and a Superior Court Judge has been that almost all legal disputes can be resoloved by mediation. As a judge he has acted on this belief by settling the vast majority of cases that came before him, and he now applies it in mediation. He is extremely proficient in his areas of specialty, and his common sense approach, enhanced by his extensive mediation training and experience as a trial lawyer, has led to settlements that seemed unimaginable. Judge Allen is known for his determination and patience in resolving disputes and for listening to all sides to ascertain their respective views and motivations. He is resourceful, creative, fair and, according to one attorney, "a genuinely likeable person."
